Our Commitment

We believe every woman deserves access to information about her hair and beauty. That commitment to accessibility extends to our digital platform. We design with the full spectrum of users in mind — whether you use a screen reader, keyboard navigation, or rely on other assistive technologies.

Standards and Compliance

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Our implementation includes:

• Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are navigable and operable by keyboard.
• Screen reader support: We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and descriptive alt text throughout the site.
• Color contrast: Text meets or exceeds WCAG AA contrast ratios against background colors.
• Reduced motion: Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
• Motion controls: The turning magazine on our home page can be stopped at any time with the Pause button beside it, and it does not animate at all if your system asks for reduced motion.
• Target size: Buttons and controls are at least 24 by 24 pixels.
• Reflow: Every page works down to a 320 pixel wide screen without side-to-side scrolling, and text can be respaced without content being cut off.
• Focus indicators: Visible focus rings are present on all interactive elements.
• Skip links: A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page.
• Responsive design: Content is accessible on any device and screen size.
• Form accessibility: All forms include proper labels, error messages, and instructions.

Known Limitations

Two things on this site are outside our control, and we would rather name them than imply otherwise. Our digital editions are hosted by Heyzine, and the reading experience inside that flipbook is theirs, not ours. Every issue is also available as a standalone page here, and we will send you the edition in another format on request. Embedded video and audio from other platforms carries whatever captioning that platform provides.

We also want to be plain about what conformance means. We test every page in this site against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA on each change, using both automated checks and scripted keyboard, reflow, text-spacing and motion tests. Automated testing catches roughly a third of the guidelines. It does not replace being told when something does not work for you, so please tell us.
